Internship Place of Work: Addis Ababa Application deadline: October 1, 2018 Duration: 3-Month with possibility extension to 6-Month Job Requirements Profile of Intern You have successfully completed a bachelor’s degree with a focus on law, political or social sciences, (higher) education, communication sciences, organizational development, or other related study fields. You have excellent communication skills in English, both in speaking and writing. Knowledge of French is an advantage. You have already gained some professional experience (e.g. through internships or volunteering). You are able to work independently, show initiative and are able to ask for guidance or raise issues if they occur. You have excellent intercultural and diplomatic skills or the willingness to learn, as you will work with high-level African and international political actors and partners on sensitive political issues. You are advanced in using Microsoft office programs, are self-organized and motivated to work in an intercultural team in our office in Addis Ababa. Scope of training Your tasks will be to support the GIZ team in Addis Ababa, as well as the colleagues in Abuja, Arusha, Bamako, Kigali, Niamey and Ouagadougou, in their efforts to assist its partners in the realization of the programme You will be integrated into the daily operations, supporting the team in its tasks and participating in internal and where possible external meetings. You will be expected to keep yourself up to date with the core developments of the programme in order to be able to react timely to various requests. You will support the team in the preparations of meetings, including high-level meetings, of technical working groups and of key and thematic partners of the programme. Furthermore, you may be responsible for the minutes of meetings. You will be supporting communication and PR of the programme. This may include the development of factsheets, presentations and further PR material. In addition, you will be involved in different assignments supporting research on border related issues. You will take on other technical and logistical tasks to support communication and activities related to knowledge- and event management.
