// Job Purpose: Key member of the Diageo/Meta Corporate Relations team that is inspiring and strives for success Leads on the use of effective analytical techniques whilst constantly looking for improvement Regularly contributes to successful problem solving; mobilizes masses around new ideas Develops clear, concise plans that are managed through to completion Key role in managing the internal communications channel through integration of Diageo and Meta, working closely with CR and HR leads, along with other functional heads. Support the commercial evolution of Diageo and Meta, making it become the leading consumer industries business in Ethiopia through first class communications and the development of thought leadership platforms Help to protect and create value by identifying opportunities and risks in the external environment that could impact on CR agenda and the business strategy. Develop and manage key elements of Diageo Sustainability programme including communications, events and relationships Top Accountabilities: Strategy Develop and implement Meta’s communications strategy Working closely with HRD and CRD to develop employee engagement plan Undertake the necessary monitoring and evaluation activities in order to determine the success or otherwise of communications strategies. Contribute expertise in the areas of media, online engagement, publication development, and public outreach to Meta’s overall strategic planning. Liaise with regional teams and coordinate Meta’s communication strategy is in line with regional ambitions Develop close working relationship across all functions to ensure communication needs are met and included in the overall communications strategy To support to the CRD and business on the development, implementation, and delivery of RD and CSR programmes and positively contribute to corporate reputation Employee & Public education Raise public awareness and positively influence public opinion around key issues: alcohol in society, responsible drinking, private sector development Develop new and creative communication streams, online options, videos, blogs, magazines, booklets, pamphlets, other educational content for both internal and external use Develop reporting schemes on quarterly, yearly basis for internal and external use Ensure employees are updated on business news and performance of Meta and overall Diageo. Ensure that all Meta output, including articles, notices, announcement, magazines briefing materials and key correspondence is to Diageo communication standards and quality Coordinate and manage public outreach on company initiatives such as the graduate program, community outreach programs and innovation launches, workshops amongst others; inclusive of event planning Assist in updating and developing Meta Abo Brewery SC’s presence on social media networks. Conduct training on policies related to corporate relations such as external communications, DrinkIQ , political activity, community and charitable activity and others Develop a systematic, strategic approach, to deliver Meta’s Water of Life agenda; manage WOL partners and track progress. Identify community related projects that are in line with business goals Responsible for the development, preparation, design and evaluation of Meta’s enriched community initiatives in the areas of: water of life, health, education, skills for life and Environment. Work with the various business locations to ensure minimal disruption to the business due to community related actions. Identify and track KPIs as it related to CR Media Build relationships and contacts with relevant print, broadcast and online journalists in Ethiopia and throughout Africa. Review Meta’s work and research regularly in order to identify possible stories, then undertake proactive media engagement, including writing press releases and pitching feature articles. Effectively utilize Diageo internal communications means such as Diageo One Africa News, Mosaic and other global announcement tools Respond to all media enquiries in a timely and accurate fashion. Brief journalists as required and draft reactive and holding statements and letters to editors as necessary Organize press conferences as required. Produce media briefings for press conferences and events as required. Qualification and Experience: Business Degree and a post graduate qualification or equivalent experience in one or more than the following: Marketing, Consulting, Communication, Public Affairs, Issues Management A minimum of 8 year experience in high profile, fast paced media, communication or marketing discipline requiring the provision of strategic advice at senior levels. Interpersonal relationship building skills and exposure to stakeholder management, e.g., customer, government, media, and employee. Comfortable with public speaking and strong networking skills Proven track record in the development and implementation of communications strategies. Successful track record of developing and delivering engaging content and compelling campaigns internationally within both digital and traditional media. Thorough knowledge and understanding of digital communications, narrative and content development, the media and editorial judgment in today’s connected world. Ability to establish relationships quickly and engender trust. Ability to influence stakeholders with skill at all levels inside and outside the organisation. Must be able to write engaging narrative content with a variety of tone and style. An international perspective gained from working in a complex, multinational, matrixed organisation and therefore used to dealing skilfully with a diverse range of cultures and personalities. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office application is essential. Strong communication and interpersonal skills must have initiative, strong personality and be self-motivated. Must be both a leader and a team player.
