Research Assistants Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI) is currently in the process of drafting its first flagship report entitled Ethiopian Economic Outlook. The report deals with me current state of the Ethiopian economy and its prospects in the next few years. The report will be based on primary and secondary data sets as well as published and unpublished documents and hence involves the collection, cleaning, tabulation and description of policy documents and data sets covering a wide range of economic issues. EDRI thus seeks to hire three Research Assistants who would coordinate and handle day-to-day operations of the report preparation process. Main duties and responsibilities Collect and compile data and related information from various sources including CSA, NBE, NPC, MOFEC and EIC. Prepare letters, get them officially endorsed and distribute the letters to request data and documents from these institutions. Liaison between EDRI team and content and language editors. Assist the EDRI researchers in preparing summary tables and in the preliminary write-up. Manage the day-to-day logistics required in the report drafting process. Organize and handle the logistics of the launching workshop. Support the technical committee on other tasks as requested. Required qualifications Masters degree in Economics, Statistics, or closely related fields Strong academic writing skills Strong background in econometric and statistical applications such as STATA. Preferred qualification Experience in management of large data sets Experience in conducting independent research as demonstrated by scholarly publications and/or policy reports Terms of employment: The initial contract will be for 4 months starting from the date of employment or as soon as possible thereafter. The contract is potentially renewable depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funding Remuneration: Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
