Project Assistant Officer Good Neighbors International (GNI) is the largest international Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Korea, working in 35 countries across Asia, Africa and Latin America since 1991. Its core interventions for community health care program range from the empowerment of community health workers (CHWs), community mobilization, nutrition, behavior change communication, and maternal and child health (MCH) service that fill health-service gaps on community level. GNI opened its country office and became registered as a international NGO in Ethiopia in 1997 and started its community-based community development project, in Lideta, Addis Ababa. Since then GNE has been working actively in the community development projects and currently has 5 local offices (Community Development Project sites; CDPs) across Addis Ababa, Oromia and SNNP regions. Currently in partnership with Pathfinder International, it has initiated a three year maternal and child health project in five districts of Arsi Zone. The project mainly aims in addressing the three delays model for reducing maternal and child morbidity and mortality. Job Summary The Project assistant officer will be responsible for ensuring alignment of project activities with the public system, coordinating and implementing of the project activities, delivering results as per the project plan and reporting of project-based performances. In addition, the candidate will be responsible in liaising with the public system at Woreda and zonal level. Major Duties: Plan and implement MNCH project activities, oversee the implementation of the project activities as per the schedule. Constantly communicate and maintain relationships with the zonal health departments, district health offices, health centers and health posts in relation with the project. Ensure effective documentation and file management within the project; Document best practices and lessons drawn by the project in implementing the project. Prepare regular reports on progress/ challenges identified and submit to the immediate supervisor Plan and Carry out monitoring and evaluation activities in line with the project’s M&E framework. Coordinate and work closely with the MNCH zonal and district coordinators’ on training management as well as MNCH project implementation Work with Other MNCH projects in the area to improve the project outcome especially reduction of both maternal and child health morbidity and mortality in the area. Design, plan and implement community mobilization activities that can strengthen health seeking and health service utilization in regard to MNCH service in the project sites. Plan and implement project activities that are designed to facilitate an effective referral network on maternal and child health service utilization. Facilitate training for community health workers and health professionals in collaboration with local stakeholders. Conduct routine site visits to each PHCU site as a form of supportive supervision and maintain bi-directional communication and information flow with Project Manager Organizing regular internal and external meetings with stakeholders and community members to plan and review activates in the field. Ensuring adherence to the relevant donor contacts and compliance requirements under close supervision of the Project Manager. Work collaboratively with Admin & Finance, other project assistant officers and Maintain good inter team communication, engender good team dynamics Carry out other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor Good Neighbors international is organized in teams, with each team managed by an area manager of program manager. As a result, additional duties may be assigned to this position; responsibilities changed or deleted based on team assignments and re-structuring; and direct supervisor is subject to change. Job Requirements Education: Master in Public Health with a background in bachelor’s degree in health; Health Officer, BSc nursing or midwifery. Required Skill and Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in the clinical practice in Maternal and Child health service out of which two years with overlapping coordination and management responsibility Demonstrate experience in project implementation and coordination specifically in maternal and child health service. Demonstrated strong verbal communication and writing skills in English language and Knowledge of one or more additional local languages will have an advantage. Must be self-motivated and independently deliver expected tasks on deadlines.
