Immediate Vacancy Announcement Climate Change Extension Expert Agri Service Ethiopia (ASE) is a non-governmental Ethiopian Resident; not-for-profit development organization established in 1969 and is working in rural Ethiopia on integrated food security, value chain development, climate change and natural resource conservation and community empowerment programs. Job Summary : The Climate Change Extension Expert (CCEE) leads the design, detailed implementation planning (DIP), and implementation of climate change and resilience interventions under the Livelihoods for Resilience project. In consultation with supervisors and in close collaboration with team members, the CCEE leads monitoring, evaluation and periodic reporting of assigned elements of Livelihood for Resilience’s climate change adaptation component, in line with ASE approaches and long-range strategic plan. The CCEE provides technical support for the development and implementation of climate smart technologies and innovations, strengthening of human and institutional capacity for climate change adaptation. S/he works with relevant PSNP implementing institutions to ensure those livelihoods implementations, and the livelihoods strategies adopted by households and communities in five woredas of Hadiya zones are climate resilient. Description of Major roles and responsibilities Trains Development Facilitators & community animators in the promotion of diversified livelihoods activities and income sources, to strengthen adaptive and transformative capacities and mitigate shocks; Leads and engages in Participatory Scenario Planning (PSP), selection, planning and management of IGAs, and risk aware business planning; Provides guidance to DFs who in turn support VESAs in developing their CCA action plans and monitor implementation; Supports the community in developing community-based climate change adaptation mechanisms; Jointly develops annual work plan and helps create budgets to ensure effective implementation of Livelihoods for Resilience action plans related to climate change adaptation and resilience; Supports PSNP households in identifying climate change adaptation and resilience strategies to build assets and steadily decrease their vulnerability to disaster risks over time; Leads climate vulnerability and capacity assessment and social action and analysis (SAA) to identify climate risks and existing adaptation strategies, and provides follow-up support for adaptation activities; Assists the value chain and livelihood experts in climate screening for value chain commodities, conducting an analysis of value chain constraints as related to climate change vulnerability; Collects, documents and shares lessons learned and results of the implementation of climate change and resilience activities; Contributes to the preparation of quality reports as required by USAID and counterparts; Maintains and establishes contacts among local partner organizations, government offices and private sector; Contributes to the development/improvement of participatory monitoring and evaluation as well as documentation and sharing of lessons on CCA and resilience; Actively participates and contributes in Livelihoods for Resilience quarterly donor reporting; Documents efforts on CCA, VESA discussions, pilot technologies, and community CCA action plans. Performs other duties assigned by the Field Office Manager. Job Requirements Education : MA/MSc or BA/BSc in Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Scienceor related field Experience : Minimum of 6 Years BSc/BA or 4 Years MSc/MA in related positions; Personal Competency: NGO experience in related positions Training planning and delivery skills.
