Cluster Coordinators The Carter Center - Ethiopia Job Locations: 1. Menz Gera (Mehal Meda), Amhara 2. Sekota, Amhara The Carter Center is a not-for-profit international NGO committed to waging peace, fighting disease and building hope worldwide. The Carter Center country office in Ethiopia, which assists the Government of Ethiopia in Disease Elimination and Eradication Programs, is looking for a qualified professional to fill Cluster Coordinator vacancy for its Trachoma Control Program: Main Responsibilities : 1. Assists the Woreda Health Offices in: Training of health workers and other support staff on Trachoma prevention and control Follow up the implementation of Trachoma elimination activities in the project woreda Assist project woredas in preparation for Trachoma campaign; Assist in awareness creation among community members on proper SAFE strategy implementation; Assists IECWs in determination of where Trichiasis surgery campaign is organized (based on TT backlog) and ensure that adequate community mobilization is done and potential TT patients are registered Work with the HEP to ensure that proper volunteerism flourish and HDAs involved in the trachoma campaign, environmental sanitation, latrine constructions and use in the community. 2. Assist the Woreda Education Office in: Training of school teachers, Woreda education officers and other support staff on Trachoma prevention and control; Establishing and strengthening of the school health clubs and teaching materials for trachoma related activities in the school health programs; Conduct school trachoma assessments; and Documentation and reporting of school trachoma activities 3. Works closely with concerned government sectors and other stakeholders for close collaboration and integration towards achieving Trachoma elimination; 4. Conducts regular monitoring and supervision of program implementation, Perform household and school monitoring and assessment with respective sectors; 5. Support in the establishment and strengthening of Trachoma taskforces at woreda level; 6. Assist in organizing program review meetings/workshops as appropriate Works very closely with Zone Project Coordinators to ensure that Trachoma projects are implemented as per the plan of action and project agreements 7. Terms of Employment: One year contract with a possibility of extension. Duty Station: East Amhara , Menz Gera (Mehal Meda) and Sekota, Amhara Reports to: Zone Project Coordinators Job Requirements Qualification Bachelor degree in Environmental Health or related fields from a recognized university Experience Minimum of four years of relevant experience in disease prevention and control, preferably Trachoma programs.
