Christian Aid is seeking senior staff to manage a major donor funded governance programme in Ethiopia. About the role Christian Aid is bidding to run a large markets programme in Ethiopia, working with refugee and host communities in three regions. The purpose of this role is to lead, manage and ensure effective delivery of this large externally funded contract between Christian Aid and the donor. The postholder will lead a multi-skilled team within Christian Aid, and a consortium of high quality partner organisations, in the delivery of a complex and large-scale service contract in Ethiopia. The postholder is required to ensure programme resources are allocated effectively and in a manner that makes maximum contribution to programme objectives and is compliant with DFID and Christian Aid requirements. They will engage and network with all relevant actors in relation to the programme and the contract between the donor and Christian Aid. The post holder is responsible for ensuring that the key contract functions are carried out in accordance with the contract. The appointment will be for 39 months, conditional on Christian Aid securing the donor contract, and on donor approval of the appointee. About you The successful applicant will have a proven track record in developing and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders, with ability to manage political sensitivities effectively and constructively. They will have successfully managed and delivered large donor funded programmes at scale, and have worked with a range of major donor organisations. Quality of team leader: Should be a highly skilled, highly credible individual with experience working in dynamic and complex political context, with expertise on the key programme themes including working with refugee and host communities, and the ‘Making Markets Work for the Poor’ (M4P) approach. They will need excellent understanding of the development context in Ethiopia. Essential skills include being able to see the bigger picture, making effective decisions, leading and communicating, collaborating and partnering, managing a quality service, and delivering at pace.
