Job Opportunity in Ethiopia Insights is looking for brilliant and highly-motivated young people to assist with our fieldwork activities in Oromia and SNNP Regions. The position is based in Oromia and SNNP regions. Final location will be finalized depending on place of residence and language ability of applicants. The main role of General Field Coordinator is for coordinating, monitoring and supervising Field coordinators ensuring that the field operations is is running smoothly, stakeholders relationship,  and resources are managed properly. In addition the General Field Coordinator, will be responsible for creating a safe and friendly working environment, providing leadership & logistics support  and maintaining quality of work. Ideal candidate have field operation management skill and  is able to lead the field operation independently in harmony with other team members with little supervision and support. General Field coordinators have strong listening skills when communicating with Quality Chief Officers( QCOs), Field coordinators(FCs),  Enumerators, and  local stakeholders. This includes the ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts and hear complaints without becoming defensive. They are also good at allocating resources optimally and safety requirement of field activities. They are excellent communicators in English and Amharic, have excellent interpersonal skills, team players and are able to effectively solve problems and adapt to changing situations. They are willing to develop their professional skills and  work in challenging environment. Key Responsibilities Lead the recruitment ( manage applications, screening, interview and on boarding) of Field coordinators and  enumerators Participate in the training of Field coordinator and enumerators Ensure smooth implementation of the field work according to the activity plan including budget, monitoring of activities and  coordination with government offices on the ground Ensure that translation of survey tools to local languages are delivered on time Secure Permission at regional level Maintain stakeholders relationship at all levels. Test questionnaires  and conduct interview using Tablets/Mobile phones. Travel to different locations at woreda and Keble levels to conduct field preparation and data collection. Document issues that arise during fieldwork Conduct interview with stakeholders and Farmers to gain deeper understanding of selected topics Monitor Qualit Control (QC) reports generated by the Quality Chief Officer on a daily basis and communicate to respective FCs. Support and monitor daily QC sessions Manage daily activities of FCs and ensure that relevant information on next steps are communicated and resources availed on time. Manage finances and optimal allocation of resources Assist in any other tasks related to the delivery of the project at hand Specific activities include: Push and follow-up in getting more applicants for the positions of FC and GFC , language requirements, as well as getting more women candidates Carry out on location interview with potential enum. Set selection criteria with Project Manager  or Project Associate for the vacant positions. Lead and follow-up the attention to detail exams with Project Manager  and/or Project Associate. Select best candidates based on the set criteria and compile the  list for the next screening phase. Identify base camps with access to power and fuel and match it with the route plan. Break down the Supply Unit plan into detail drop pin level Process government permission. Prepare a contact list of base camp and motor bike providers obtained from logistics officers. Follow up survey translation. Carry out survey test. Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree related to Plant Science, Forestry, development studies, economics, business, statistics or other relevant discipline with relevant professional experience. 3-5 years of research experience with strong field level coordination and stakeholder management skills Experience with coffee farming highly advantageous ( raised in coffee growing families, participated in researches conducted on coffee) Experience in collecting quantitative data using electronic data collection instruments, Excellent verbal and written proficiency in Amharic and English. Having a good communication skills in any one of  the languages: Afan Oromo, Gedeo, Sidaamu Afoo, Koorete, Amaarro, Dirashe is advantageous. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Good computer skills – especially the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel, internet. Reports to Project Lead Duration: Project duration 6 months between September 2018- February 2019 Position Description Insights is looking for an experienced Data Quality officer to support with our fieldwork activities in Oromia and SNNP Regions. The position is based in Addis Ababa with travels to Oromia and SNNP regions. The main role of the Chief Quality Officers  is to  manage and analyze the survey data to generate insights and quality control reports to support FCs and GFCs for their daily Quality control sessions Ideal candidates have experience in managing and cleaning data on a real time basis to provide feed back to the field team. Have the ability to easily understand the data and generate insights, bad data, and, improvement areas. They are excellent communicators in English and Amharic, have excellent interpersonal skills, team players and are able to effectively solve problems and adapt to changing situations. Key Responsibilities Participate in the training of Field coordinator and enumerators Test questionnaires and conduct interview using Tablets/Mobile phones. Identify topics for QC discussions Monitor quality of data collected on a daily basis and communicate to respective GFCs. Follow up on a daily basis with supervisors to correct rejected surveys and solve issues with problematic enumerators. Daily monitor completed surveys and check for bad data, wrong location, or erroneous randomization protocols employed. Prepare and communicate to GFCs daily QC reports and identify topic for discussion Prepare and share weekly statistics on the progress of data collection. Ideal candidates have experience in collecting quantitative data using electronic data collection instruments, ability to motivate team members, keep a neutral attitude with the respondents, good understanding and skill of properly managing and coaching enumerators. And, they have the appropriate skill and methods to implement in the data collection process to maintain high data quality. They are excellent communicators in English and Amharic, have excellent interpersonal skills, team players and are able to effectively solve problems and adapt to changing situations. They are willing to develop their professional skills and  work in challenging environment such as walking in rural villages and farms. Key Responsibilities Ensure that the team has all required information and necessary equipment’s ready in  working order. Schedule activities as well as the work of others. Always be available to enumerators and team members Keep the team motivated and energized Provide coaching and feedback to enumerators regularly. Accompany new enumerators for their 1st days, with “replacement enumerators” if any, or with enumerators that produce lesser quality data and actively coach/train them Receive information from the Quality Control Officer (QCO) on basic logistics metrics, verify information with enumerators and report back to QCO daily. Organization and lead daily feedback sessions with the team to identify and solve problems Gather & share other other teams relevant information that team encountered in the field Managing the weekly budget and ensuring that everyone gets paid Communicate immediately any issues in the field to the Operations Manager and QCO Analyze situations and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
