Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and technical support in close cooperation and coordination with relevant national, regional, stakeholders, on the implementation of the programme elements;
- Provide direct technical support for the design and delivery of specific activities targeted at building capacities for the Implementing Partner;
- Liaise with key national and regional stakeholders from Government and civil society organizations to build synergy and collaboration, and to promote wider participation;
- Assist the Implementing Partner institution in preparing Annual Work Plans and Budgets, financial and procurement requests;
- Assist in accelerating programmatic as well as financial delivery following UNDPs standard operating procedures and regulations and based on agreed indicators;
- Follow-up and report on the implementation of the programme ensuring that activities outlined in agreed activities are implemented as outlined in the Annual Work Plan and are executed in a timely manner;
- Support in organization of field monitoring missions, meetings and coordination with relevant stakeholders;
- Support Monitoring & Evaluation and Audit functions in collaboration with the UNDP Country Office DGP Unit colleagues required;
- Submit project briefs to the Programme team on completion of programme activities;
- Assist in the drafting of narrative activity and financial reports to UNDP and donor partners;
- Under the guidance of the Programme team, ensure that the project follows financial and administrative documentation procedures in line with UNDP, and donor guidelines and Programme Implementation Manual;
- Act as a desk officer point of contact for the GDDP.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Master’s Degree in development studies, governance, political science or related social science disciplines.
Experience:
- At least 2 years of work experience (4 years with Bachelor's Degree) in a governance and capacity development related field in national and international organizations/in an international development context;
- Demonstrated experience in programme/project management in the governance area;
- Proven experience leading complex governance programmes/projects, preferably with the UN System;
- Good understanding of UNDP programming principles and modalities, with specific emphasis on the national implementation modality.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English and Amharic languages, both written and verbal, is required.
