Ipas Ethiopia is an international non-profit organization working to improve women’s lives with focus on reproductive health. Ipas’s mission is to increase women’s ability to exercise their sexual and reproductive rights and reduce abortion related morbidity and mortality. The key programmatic and strategic directions that guide the organization’s functions include:
Expand access to safe abortion and contraceptive services to women, especially young women, and improve quality of care in both public and private health sectors.
Increase sustainable supply of abortion related technologies, particularly MVA and medical abortion
Expand women’s and young women’s awareness of their options and their ability to prevent and manage unwanted pregnancy
To create an enabling environment for comprehensive abortion care and contraceptive services and increase commitment and resources by stakeholders.
In light of the need to strengthen our relationship with stakeholders and expedite programme implementation, we are planning to hire the following position.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Finance Coordinator provides support in areas of accounting, financial and government reporting, budgeting and analysis as needed by the Ipas Ethiopia office and the North Carolina office. This position reports to the Senior Finance Manager for Ipas Ethiopia.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Keep authorized petty cash fund in locked safe, receive payment requests, prepare petty cash voucher, get approval from the responsible personnel and attach the relevant supporting documents
Record daily petty cash vouchers on the petty cash register book and check the balances
Make daily cash count, reconcile with the petty cash register book balance for any cash surprise count.
Deposit intact cash collected from advance settlements and other sources
Prepare petty cash replenishment requests before the balance drops down to not less than 10% of the petty cash floating.
Check the completeness of payment requests, prepare check payment vouchers and forward to the finance coordinator for check preparation.
Collect paid check payment vouchers along with their relevant supporting documents
Ensure that proper filing of all financial documents is maintained.
Prepare 2% and 30% tax withholdings invoices and attach the account copies with relevant documents,
Record daily withholding taxes on monthly tax report form and follow up timely settlement of taxes
Keep stock ledger card for each stock items, record stock purchases and stock issues with their respective values
Reconcile stock ledger cards with the store keeper’s record on quarterly basis
Responsible for cash disbursements on trainings organized by Ipas Ethiopia in Addis Ababa.
Collect timely bank advices, statements and other correspondences
Assist monthly financial report preparation and provide required information as needed
Perform any other activities assigned by the supervisor
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance with 2 - 3 years’ relevant work experience required.
Proficient in accounting standards and systems
Demonstrated strong computer skills required, experience with financial databases a plus
Non-profit accounting and fund accounting experience is a plus
Well organized, efficient, ability to multi task in fast-paced, deadline oriented environment
Excellent communication skills. Proficiency in English is preferred
