Procurement & Logistics Manager

Reporting: General Manager - Ethiopia



  • Managing shipping and import processes for materials and equipment, from ordering via international suppliers to clearing customs in Ethiopia, and onward transport to site
  • Managing export processes for mineral samples and product exports
  • Processing imports under the mining duty exemption regime
  • Liaising with various government departments/authorities and logistics agencies to process/coordinate imports and exports
  • Preparing, managing and filing of all purchase requests, quotations, invoices, and import/export documentation
  • Inventory management, including purchasing, storage and transport of domestic equipment and materials
  • Supplier management and liaison
  • Drafting and managing visa and work permit applications for visitors and expatriate staff
  • Managing domestic transport arrangements (overland and air travel), managing domestic hotel bookings, and airport collections
  • Car-pooling, maintenance scheduling (in conjunction with the maintenance department or suppliers) and management of light vehicle compliance (e.g. upkeep of vehicle licenses, registrations, servicing, taxes, insurance etc.)
  • Filing documents / reports with various government agencies / banks etc. as required


Qualification Requirements

  • BA/BSc degree from a recognized university in Logistics & Supply Chain Management
  • At least 3 years’ management experience in shipping, customs clearance, logistics or freight forwarding, or related sector is essential
  • English speaking with good communication and numerical skills (written and verbal)
  • Good communication skills in Amharic
  • Basic level of Oromifa desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of local import/export regulations, duty exemptions, visa and work permit processes is required
  • Contacts/experience within relevant government institutions (ERCA, Customs, Ministry of Labour, etc.) is beneficial
  • Good knowledge of MS office software
  • A creative and self-motivated team player willing to learn and contribute is required – the candidate should expect to self-manage in many situations
  • Attention to details and ability to learn quickly
  • Adaptability, ability to deliver results & meeting expectations
  • A good business understanding; confidentiality; crisis management


  • Location: 50% Addis Ababa office, 50% site office, Borona Zone, South Oromia, Ethiopia
  • Holiday: 25 days annual leave. ( Excluding  bank and statutory public holidays )
  • Salary:  As per industry standard.
