Role purpose
The Agribusiness Development Manager will collaboratively develop and manage the LRM (Locally Sourced Raw Materials) supply chain, quality audits and on-going sustainability and improvement (yield and quality) of delivered LRM for production of current and future Meta Abo beer brand portfolio. 
S/he will be in charge of managing grain quality activities across Ethiopia through active liaison and consultation with the operational site, demand functions, East Africa Hub and GBTC, local and international cereal base research institutions. 
Top accountabilities 

  • Ensure supply chain stability and growth of LRM (grains and other starch sources) through ownership and delivery of agreed business KPI’s for Meta Abo Brewery. 
  • Ensure the agri-business partnerships, investments and future opportunities for LRM lead to sustainable improvement in quality, cost and flexibility throughout the supply chain.
  • Manage the quality of LRM for Meta Abo across the entire supply chain in Ethiopia, from intake, storage, processing and movements till usage in the brewery.
  • Ensure activities within are done in full compliance with Meta /Diageo standards. This includes EISC and SAP processes where required

Required qualification and experience 

  • Degree in Agriculture, Economics or equivalent in any technical discipline.
  • Diploma in brewing and good knowledge of grain production will be of advantage.
  • At least 3 years experience in cereal value chains, particularly in roles that require strategy development, stakeholder coordination and quantifiable delivery with multiple partners across the value chain
  • Awareness of Diageo and Meta Abo’s quality, risk management, environmental and safety standards.
  • Thorough understanding of the local culture, government and agricultural systems is required for the role.
  • An established network of government and business contacts in the field of agri-business development will be of advantage.  
  • Specific experience within the barley value chain in Ethiopia
  • Strong, persuasive leadership and influencing skills will be of advantage
  • Strong computer skills: MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook
