Job Description

Gurmuu Development Association is a local NGO established in March 2005, re-registered with the Charities and Societies Agency as Ethiopian Residents Charity on October 26, 2009 and renewed its license on 16th of February, 2016. Gurmuu is behind a mission of bringing lasting change and improvement in the life of disadvantaged community members with more emphasis on children and women through integrated development programs and proactive participation of the community. Gurmuu is seeking to hire competent applicant who meets the following requirement.

Position: Program Officer (Developing Apiculture Management & Market Access)

Major duties:
  • Coordinate the implementation of development projects run by Gurmuu;
  • Identify project ideas and write proposals;
  • Prepare plan of actions;
  • Prepare quarterly, biannual and other relevant reports; and
  • Monitor and supervise development activities at field and document the findings.
Education and experience:
  • MSc/MA degree in economics, agricultural economics, agriculture, development studies or related and at least eight years relevant experience in related areas of work.
  • BSc/BA degree in economics, agricultural economics, agriculture, development studies or related and at least 10 years relevant experience in related areas of work.
  • NGOs development experience is preferable.
Relevant skills:
  • Sound skills of project proposal and report writing;
  • Good supervisory skill;
  • Good understanding of value chain development projects;
  • Relevant knowledge in monitoring and evaluation;
  • Good commitment in working with rural communities;
  • Have good interpersonal and organizational communication abilities;
  • Ability to work and deliver under stressful situation;
  • Able to work with little supervision;
  • Proficiency in computer use; and
  • Good command of English and Afan Oromo languages.
Salary: negotiable, as per the organizational scale and competence of the candidate.
Place of work: Addis Ababa, with frequent travel to intervention areas.
