Role Purpose
The AR/AP Officer manages accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, ensuring accurate recording, timely billing, collections, supplier payments, and compliance with company policies, tax regulations, and accounting standards. This role is critical to supporting cash flow management in a manufacturing business with both local and foreign suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Prepare, issue, and record customer invoices.
- Ensure timely collection of receivables and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate customer ledgers and reconcile AR balances.
- Monitor credit terms and customer aging; prepare AR aging reports.
- Support cash flow forecasting with receivables data.
- Ensure revenue recognition aligned with IFRS 15.
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Review, verify, and process supplier invoices.
- Ensure timely payment of local and foreign suppliers.
- Maintain vendor master data and supplier ledgers.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to match invoices with GRNs and POs.
- Support LC payments, customs duties, freight, and import costs.
Reporting & Reconciliation
- Prepare AR/AP schedules and management reports.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of AR, AP, advances, and clearing accounts.
- Assist in month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
- Support audits with required documentation.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with company policies, VAT, withholding tax, and IFRS.
- Maintain proper documentation of invoices, contracts, and payments.
- Support implementation of internal controls over receivables and payables.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2–4 years of AR/AP experience, preferably in manufacturing or import‑driven businesses.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
- Knowledge of VAT, withholding tax, and IFRS concepts.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good understanding of cash flow management.
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
