Summary:
The U.S. Mission in Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Deputy Motor Pool Supervisor in the GSO office.
Duties
The incumbent supervises drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, and other Motor pool staff to provide efficient transportation services for Mission Addis Ababa. Oversee all Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) maintenance, motor vehicle inventory and cost accounting functions. Develop maintenance scheduling methodologies. Assure repair quality from internal mechanics and external vendors. Assure that resources are sufficient to meet vehicle maintenance needs and car washing services. Manage internal customer relationships. Promote preventative maintenance. Oversee the vehicle insurance and claim program. The Incumbent serves as an incidental operator of official vehicles and meets all requirements outlined in 14 FAM 433.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:

Qualifications:
Experience:
- A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in managing a large operation, with at least two of those years including Motor pool operations. A minimum of two additional years of supervisory experience is required.
Language:
- Good Working Knowledge in Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. Good Working Knowledge in Speaking/Reading/Writing Amharic is required. (These may be tested)
Job Knowledge:
- The position requires in-depth knowledge of all motor pool operations including dispatching, scheduling vehicle maintenance, personnel management, and safety training. Incumbent must understand the structure of the Mission offices and agencies that operate within the Mission; good knowledge about the functions of different sections within the Mission to accurately track and process monthly charges for vehicle use and maintenance. The position must possess knowledge of local traffic laws, road conditions, geographical setting, and social/political events that affect vehicle movement and routing; and requires knowledge of the country-specific vehicle insurance, licensing, and registration procedures. Good knowledge of the practices and procedures of managing a large service operation, including a Motor pool operation. Good knowledge of the specifications and operation techniques of various types of vehicles and of vehicle safety measures. Good knowledge of vehicle mechanical operation, maintenance requirements, and repairs. Good knowledge of basic accounting procedures and the preparation of operation reports.
Skills And Abilities:
Good organizational and supervisory skills to effectively plan and monitor GSO Motor pool operations and supervise staff. Good interpersonal skills to deal effectively with Mission staff. Initiative and resourcefulness to determine and recommend measures for improving operations. Basic manual skills required to handle vehicle equipment are required. Basic numerical skills are required for an inventory of spare parts/supplies. Must be able to use Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook) and proprietary software such as ILMS and FMIS. Must have a valid, current 3rd-grade or equivalent driver’s license. Must have had a valid driver's license for a minimum of five (5) years. (These may be tested)
