Position: Graduate Intern – Finance Officer

Education: A recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience: Previous internship or volunteer experience in a finance or accounting role is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) is an advantage.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Graduate Intern in the Finance Officer position, you will provide essential support to the finance department in ensuring effective financial management and compliance. Your responsibilities will include:

Financial Management:

  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and reports.
  • Supporting the monitoring of expenditures and ensuring they align with the approved budget.
  • Assisting in the preparation and processing of invoices, receipts, and payments.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring all transactions are properly documented.

Accounting and Reconciliation:

  • Assisting with bank reconciliations and the preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Helping to ensure timely and accurate posting of transactions in accounting software.
  • Supporting the review and reconciliation of financial discrepancies.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Assisting in ensuring adherence to organizational financial policies and procedures.
  • Supporting the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including donors and regulatory bodies.
  • Assisting in audits by providing required financial data and supporting documentation.

General Responsibilities:

  • Conducting research on financial best practices and recommending improvements.
  • Providing administrative support to the finance team as needed.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring the security of financial information.
