Adam Smith International is bidding for a long-term technical assistance project in Ethiopia focusing on economic transformation in conflict and migration prone regions. The project will be funded by the European Union, and will run for four years.
About the project
The €3.5m “Technical assistance for Enhancing Economic Transformation in Conflict and Migration Prone Regions of Ethiopia” project comprises part of the overarching €36m EU NDICI Action, “Support to sustainable and integrated responses to forced displacement and labour migration in Ethiopia”.
The Specific Objective of the Technical Assistance project is to support and increase the ability of the local economy to create jobs for refugees, IDPs, returnees and host communities in existing and/or potential value chains. The overall programme covers areas of Ethiopia affected by conflict and displacement (namely Amhara, Afar, Tigray, Benishangul Gumuz, Somali, Gambella, Oromia) and prone to migration (same as above, also including the 3 Southern Regions). A core part of the work of the Technical Assistance Team will be to identify the geographical scope of the activities (regions and woreda level) for the specific objective of the contract.

About the role
The Migration and Forced Displacement Expert will lead on the execution of assessments and mapping exercises, as well as the design and delivery of capacity building for Government and Civil Society stakeholders. They will work closely with key Implementing Partners (UNHCR, ILO) and other stakeholders.
This role will be a part-time position, requiring a roughly 25% time commitment (approx. 220 working days over four years). The post will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Travel to other regions throught Ethiopia is also foreseen.
