Role Overview
Under the supervision of the Programme Officer (Protection Emergencies) and National Officer (Protection), the Project Associate will support implementation of activities under the Protection Non‑emergencies portfolio, including Migration Response Centres (MRCs), Counter‑Trafficking, and Community Outreach.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementation and monitoring of project activities
- Compile, analyze, and present project data
- Monitor budgets and update financial information
- Act as focal point for administrative coordination
- Draft reports, correspondence, and briefing notes
- Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions
- Liaise with local authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and donors
- Monitor implementing partners and report non‑compliance
- Provide guidance/training to junior staff
Qualifications
Education
- Diploma with 5 years of relevant experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Political/Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields with 3 years of experience
Experience
- Liaising with government, UN agencies, NGOs, and institutions
- Working with migrants, refugees, IDPs, and trafficking victims
- Humanitarian or development programming experience
- Prior work in multicultural settings is an advantage
Skills
- Knowledge of migration and protection topics
- Strong interpersonal and cross‑cultural skills
- Capacity building expertise
- Excellent reporting and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint
- Knowledge of IOM protection standards
Languages
- Fluency in English required
- Working knowledge of Amharic desirable
