Danish Refugee Council invites qualified applicants for the following job positions. DRC is Denmark’s largest NGO. The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), an international non-governmental organization (NGO), has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. DRC promotes and supports solutions to the problems faced by refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and migrants.
DRC Ethiopia began operations in 2009 and has been responding to the needs of refugees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and vulnerable host communities ever since. DRC Ethiopia currently has programs implemented through five area offices (AO) in Gambella, Tigray, Somali (Jijiga & Dollo Ado) and Afar regions, as well as its country office (CO) in Addis Ababa.
Danish Refugee Council NGO Job Vacancy 2025:
Position 1: Peace Building Assistant
EDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)
- BSc degree or Diploma in Peace Studies, Conflict Management, Social Studies or related fields.
Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)
- At least one year of professional experience in a similar position.
- Good command of English (written, read, and spoken).
- Good computer skills (MS Word and MS Excel); able to work under pressure.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience and willingness to travel to field location.
- Self-motivated and able to work with a minimum of guidance and supervision.
- Relevant NGO experience is preferable.
LANGUAGE: (indicate fluency level)
- Full Proficiency in English languages and Somali language.
Location: Dollo Ado Somali Region, Ethiopia
Position 2: Protection Assistant – Legal
EDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)
- University degree in social work, social science, law or other relevant field from a recognized institution.
Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)
- Excellent Knowledge of federal and regional laws
- Minimum of 1-year experience in humanitarian protection or law enforcement offices
- Technical understanding of core protection concepts, prevention, and response strategies in line with best practices and ethical data collection and data protection protocols.
- Experience in identifying and responding to the needs of particularly vulnerable individuals or people of concern based on protection risks, age, gender, and diversity criteria;
- Integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to consistently meet deadlines under pressure;
- Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel; proficiency in Kobo and other data collection/analysis tools desirable
LANGUAGE: (indicate fluency level)
- Excellent skills in speaking, reading and writing English, and Somali
Location: Dollo Ado Somali Region, Ethiopia
Position 3: Protection Officer – Legal
EDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)
- University degree in Law/ LL. B
Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)
- Minimum 2 years work experience in the legal sector, preferably in a humanitarian context;
- Prior Experience working with persons of concern including refugees, internally displaced and/ or returnees;
- Experience and familiarity with Ethiopia’s judicial system;
- Familiarity with international laws focusing on IDP and refugee rights;
- Understanding of protection principles and protection minimum standards;
- High level of personal initiative, analytical and problem-solving skill;
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain working relationships across the organization.
- Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures
- Good proficiency in Microsoft Office package.
LANGUAGE: (indicate fluency level)
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Proficiency in Somali language is highly desirable
