The Royal Norwegian Embassy represents the Norwegian Government in Ethiopia. The Embassy supports the bilateral cooperation between the two countries and has 13 diplomats and 22 local employees.

We are currently looking for a programme adviser responsible for managing projects on gender equality, SRHR, and governance. The programme adviser will be part of the Embassy’s bilateral team.

This is an important position within the Embassy: the key adviser on gender equality. Norway has been a global front runner in the international effort to strengthen SRHR, human rights and gender equality. Norway’s ambition is to be a trustworthy and long-term partner within these fields in Ethiopia.

Position: Programme Adviser

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Higher university degree in relevant disciplines for the position.
  • Knowledge and experience of programmes related to gender equality, SRHR, SGBV and Women, Peace and Security.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in project cycle management, including results management; financial management; audit; and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Knowledge and experience of the operating framework for government, civil society and multilateral organisations in development and/or humanitarian programming in Ethiopia.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and capacity to work analytically, independently and efficiently
  • Excellent English and Amharic (both spoken and written) are essential
  • Readiness to take on new tasks and areas of responsibility, if and when required.

Terms of Employment: Full time fixed contract with 6 months’ probation period. We have a friendly and informal working environment. The salary package will depend on experience and qualifications. Some domestic travel can be expected as part of the job.
