About the Program
These positions support the USDA Food for Progress (FFPr) program in Ethiopia, a 5-year initiative designed to transform Ethiopia’s sunflower sector. The program uses a market-driven, U.S.-led value chain approach to address productivity, market linkage, financing, and policy constraints. By strengthening the sunflower industry, the program aims to benefit Ethiopian farmers and businesses while creating opportunities for U.S. companies.
Job Overview
RTI International is recruiting qualified professionals to join its team in Addis Ababa. Successful candidates will contribute to the implementation of the FFPr program by ensuring effective human resource management, procurement and grants oversight, and financial accountability.
Available Positions
1. Human Resources and Administrative Officer
- Education: Master’s degree with 1 year of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience; HR certifications a plus
- Experience: Knowledge of HR policy, local labor laws, and donor-funded project regulations; US-government project experience preferred
- Responsibilities:
- Manage HR administration including recruitment, compliance, compensation, and benefits
- Support onboarding, training, and staff performance management
- Oversee administrative tasks including filing, fleet operations, logistics, inventory, and petty cash
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office; fluency in English and Amharic
- Reports to: Finance and Administration Manager
- Place of Work: Addis Ababa
2. Procurement and Grants Manager
- Education: Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 6 years of experience; certifications in procurement/logistics preferred
- Experience: Demonstrated expertise in grants and procurement management for international donor-funded projects; USG-funded project experience required
- Responsibilities:
- Lead procurement and grants management, including RFQs, RFA, APS, and vendor negotiations
- Oversee sourcing, vendor management, and compliance with RTI and donor regulations
- Train staff on procurement policies and ensure audit-ready documentation
- Monitor grantee performance, financial disbursements, and compliance
- Skills: Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to manage complex procurement processes; fluency in English; willingness to travel across Ethiopia
- Place of Work: Addis Ababa
3. Accountant
- Education: Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 3 years of experience; Chartered Accountant/CPA certification required
- Experience: At least 2 years in accounting for US-government funded projects preferred; experience with Ethiopian financial institutions and tax laws
- Responsibilities:
- Manage payroll, cash operations, vendor payments, and budgeting
- Track and review project expenses; prepare monthly expense reports
- Ensure compliance with RTI policies, donor regulations, and Ethiopian tax laws
- Maintain accounting files, perform audits, and prepare financial statements
- Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office; strong organizational and communication skills; fluency in English; integrity and confidentiality in financial management
- Reports to: Finance and Administration Manager
