Major Responsibilities
The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required. The role can include designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.
● Design, implement, and support firewalls, site-to-site VPNs, and remote-access VPNs
● Manage and ensure seamless connectivity of the enterprise network with ISPs using GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) and EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) technologies.
● Configure and monitor Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) and Optical Network Units (ONUs).
● Conduct IP address planning, VLAN segmentation, subnetting, and routing configuration (both static and dynamic) to ensure efficient network performance and scalability.
● Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
● Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
● Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
● Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
● Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
● Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
● Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.
● Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
● Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
● Participate in managing all network security solutions.
● Perform server and security audits, and system backups and recovery
● Prepare HLD, LLD, ATP, As-built and related documentation
● Work on pre sales activities of solution development, presentation and bid response ● Develop solution and RFP for new LAN/WLAN opportunities
● Plan, Design, Install and configure Network Management system and Network Access Control system Skills and Experience
● Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, and WLAN design and implementation.
● Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
● Expert knowledge of core routing and switching design principles, best practices, and related technologies.
● Experience in implementing and managing voice over IP (VoIP) systems desired.
● Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including routers, switches (layer 2/3), firewalls, remote access, DNS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLAN, QoS, DSL, Frame Relay, and Metro Ethernet.
● Proven experience in designing, implementing, managing and supporting enterprise level IP networks that include support of a heterogeneous distributed desktop computing environment required.
● Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience.
● Extensive application support experience with network monitoring and analysis software, Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.
● Proven experience in diagnosing and resolving complex network issues in enterprise environments
Education and Qualifications
● BSC degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, IT
● Minimum 2 Years of Experience as Network Engineer
● Industrial Certificate in Cisco, Huawei, Ruckus, HPE etc is a plus
