As part of the implementation of the BMM program, GIZ has a dual role both to coordinate the activities of the implementing partners based on the agreed-upon annual work plan, as well as to directly implement certain activities. In furtherance of these responsibilities, GIZ works closely with government and non-government offices and officials and must maintain strong, professional relationships with many different national stakeholders in the countries of implementation.
Position 1: Junior Procurement and Contracting Specialist
Qualifications
- Certificate/diploma or similar qualification from a recognised clerical college. A degree in accounting / finance /procurement is advantageous
Professional experience
- At least 1-years’ professional experience in a comparable position
Other knowledge, additional competencies
- Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office);
- Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
- Proven experience with all MS-office products
Other knowledge, additional competencies
- Good English language skills required.
- Somali and other regional language skills are an advantage.
- Knowledge of government institutions active in natural resource management and pastoralism in Somali is an advantage.
- Readiness to work in rural lowland environments.
- High degree of initiative, integrity, and accountability.
- Self-organized, with strong interpersonal skills, and a focus on results.
- Ability to work structured and maintain the overview in a complex environment; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to work under time pressure; stress tolerance and patience.
- High work ethic and willingness to travel, discipline and punctuality.
Position 2: Junior Logistics Specialist
Qualifications:
- A university degree in Logistics and supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering or any other business-related fields.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
- Very good knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, MS Teams, Word, Excel).
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Solution and service-oriented attitude and working philosophy.
- Open to learning and overtaking new tasks required by the company or internal procedures.
- Integrity and loyalty to the company.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and anticipate next steps or needs.
- To be thorough and pay attention to detail.
- Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- The ability to accept criticism and work well under pressure.
- Well-developed interpersonal and team working skills; ability to operate effectively in teams, proactive, reliable, and positive work attitude.
- Ability to deal sensitively in multicultural environments.
- Based in Addis Ababa.
