GIZ Ethiopia NGO Job Vacancies – 2025

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German implementing organization which provides services worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. We work to shape a future worth living in over 120 countries around the world.

As part of the implementation of the BMM program, GIZ has a dual role both to coordinate the activities of the implementing partners based on the agreed-upon annual work plan, as well as to directly implement certain activities. In furtherance of these responsibilities, GIZ works closely with government and non-government offices and officials and must maintain strong, professional relationships with many different national stakeholders in the countries of implementation.

Position 1: Junior Rural Development/MSME Development Adviser

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Agriculture economics, Business Administration, Rural Development, or related field.

Professional experience

  • Minimum 2 years of field experience in rural MSME development in agriculture sector
  • Proven experience with participatory training methods and adult learning principles.
  • Familiarity with cooperative and MSME development is highly desirable.
  • Working experience with MoA, Regional BoAs, Research, private sectors, etc

Other knowledge, additional competencies

  • Sound technical knowledge on cooperative and MSME development
  • Team worker
  • Demonstrated experience in working with Farmer Cooperatives
  • Very good skills in English and Afan Oromo reporting and presenting

Location: Addis Ababa

Position 2: Junior Rural Development/Dryland Farming Adviser

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Dryland Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Rural Development, or related field.

Professional experience

  • Minimum 2 years of field experience in community-based agricultural extension or watershed development and dryland farming.
  • Proven experience with participatory training methods and adult learning principles.
  • Familiarity with flood-based farming, water harvesting, or soil-water conservation in dryland settings is highly desirable.
  • Working experience with MoA, Regional BoAs, Research, private sectors, etc

Other knowledge, additional competencies

  • High level of motivation, proactivity, self-discipline, integrity and accountability.
  • Team worker
  • Hands-on experience in the Coop management and DVRPU
  • Readiness to travel to regions regularly and work in rural circumstances

Position 3: Administrative Specialist

Required qualifications, competences and experience

Qualifications

  • Completion of a college education or similar in the field of business administration, public administration, management, or related field.

Professional experience

  • At least 5 years of professional working experience in a similar position[PE1]
  • Experience in Event and Travel Management
  • Excellent knowledge of service procurement procedures and contract management
  • Excellent knowledge of GIZ rules and regulations on travel and Events

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Knowledge of processes for settlement of travel claims and finance processes of GIZ
  • Knowledge of the process for settlement of Event- and Travel management in GIZ and their documentation
  • Knowledge of audit proofed knowledge in payments (P+R or other rules and regulations)
  • Knowledge of donor specialized travel and event related rules (f.ex. EU, DEZA,….)
  • High capacities to work under pressure and with last minutes request
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently
  • High social and intercultural competence
  • Strong communication competences with different stakeholders
  • High flexibility and collaboration capacities
  • Open minded for changes in a diverse professional environment
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed
  • Very good knowledge of Office 365
  • Very good English knowledge, French and German is an advantage
