Position Overview:
The Logistics Officer (Pipeline & Planning) will coordinate upstream and downstream pipeline planning as part of WFP Ethiopia’s supply chain operations. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the incumbent will provide technical guidance, collaborate with multiple units, and ensure an integrated supply chain approach to meet the food assistance needs of beneficiaries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage pipeline planning activities for the country office.
  • Supervise junior staff and ensure tasks meet organizational standards.
  • Plan, monitor, and coordinate food requirements across activities.
  • Develop and implement logistics procedures aligned with regional and functional strategies.
  • Facilitate timely and cost-effective food transfers from ports and hubs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (UN agencies, NGOs, government) for integrated supply chain solutions.
  • Analyze corridors, lead times, storage capacities, and propose efficiency improvements.
  • Conduct financial analysis and budget reviews to optimize resources.
  • Manage documentation, reporting, and data collection to support decision-making.
  • Represent WFP Logistics in meetings and provide technical insights.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Advanced university degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or related field. First degree with additional experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience in supply chain planning or S&OP, including use of planning tools.
  • Experience in interagency coordination for emergency and non-emergency responses is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication in English (oral and written, Level C).
