National Bank of Ethiopia Job Vacancy 2025

National Bank of Ethiopia was established in 1963 by proclamation 206 of 1963 and began operation in January 1964. Prior to this proclamation, the Bank used to carry out dual activities, i.e. commercial banking and central banking. The proclamation raised the Bank’s capital to Ethiopian dollars 10.0 million and granted broad administrative autonomy and juridical personality.

The financial sector is growing at a faster rate which demands efficient and effective management and oversees. In order to respond to this development, the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) is planning to construct branches in selected cities of the country. Thus, the Bank is looking for competent Construction Projects Coordinator at each branch construction site.

Position 1: Financial Management Specialist

Job Requirements:

  • 1st degree or above Accounting, Accounting and Finance, Banking and Finance or related fields.
  • At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience for a major Company, government or non-government institution.
  • The candidates should have prior experience in implementing World Bank funded project/programs for at least 4 years, sufficient knowledge on managing the Client Connection system of the World Bank
  • Preference will be given to candidates with the Chartered Certified Public Accountant or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants or Certified Management Accountant designations
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, particularly regarding presenting results of analyses to management,
  • Specific technical knowledge related to World Bank related projects,
  • Proficient use and knowledge of electronic spreadsheets and database
  • Fluency in English and Amharic languages
  • The candidate must have the highest levels of personal integrity, and a reputation for a transparent and systematic work style; and
  • The candidate must be able to work under pressure situations, to meet demanding deadlines

Position 2: Procurement Specialist

Job Requirements:

  • 1st degree and above in Economics, Management, Accounting, Business Administration, Procurement and Supply Management, or other related fields.
  • At least 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in senior procurement management roles, preferably in World Bank-financed projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of World Bank procurement guidelines and Ethiopian government procurement procedures.
  • Experience in conducting training and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Amharic.
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills

Position 3: Manager, Project Implementation Unit

Job Requirements:

  • 1st degree or above in in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Management, or other related fields.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in managing programs of similar scope and complexity, preferably with World Bank or other donor-funded projects.
  • Proven experience in coordinating with government agencies, financial institutions, and development partners.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills in multicultural and interdisciplinary settings.
  • Strong analytical skills in economics and financial development.
  • Familiarity with Ethiopia’s banking sector policies and regulatory environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, networking and communication skills;
  • Strong self-motivation and innovative skills, with the capacity to work independently and meet competing deadlines;
  • Willingness and demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, demanding, and multitasking work environment;
  • Fluent in oral and written English and Amharic;
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Excellent ability to use information technology (computers, computer programs, internet, etc) for analysis, report writing, presentations, etc.
