About NORCAP and the African Union Partnership

In partnership with the African Union Peace Fund (AUPF), NORCAP supports strategic initiatives that promote peace, stability, and sustainable development across Africa. The AUPF finances and coordinates critical peace and security projects within the African Union’s broader agenda.

To strengthen this mission, NORCAP is seeking a Planning Officer to join the Peace Fund Secretariat in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.


Position: Planning Officer (AU Peace Fund – P1 Level)

Key Purpose of the Role

The Planning Officer will play a vital role in supporting the planning, coordination, and monitoring of the African Union Peace Fund’s activities. This includes assisting in strategic planning, project management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure efficient delivery of peace and security initiatives across Africa.


Main Responsibilities

  • Support the development and review of AUPF strategic and annual work plans.
  • Assist in identifying and prioritizing funding areas and project opportunities for peace and security programs.
  • Coordinate planning and reporting processes aligned with AUPF’s objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Prepare detailed reports on project progress, resource allocation, and performance.
  • Conduct data collection and analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Support workshops, consultations, and meetings with partners and AU institutions.
  • Provide updates and briefings to management on planning milestones and outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in International Relations, Public Administration, Development Management, Political Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, program coordination, or project management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with SAP is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the African Union’s peace and security framework is desirable.
  • Strong organizational and report-writing skills.
