ROLE SUMMARY

Renew Capital is seeking a highly connected, strategic and results-driven Senior Advisor, Partnership & Growth – Ethiopia to activate and expand Ethiopia’s investment ecosystem. This role is designed for a dynamic leader with deep networks across government, private sector and the international development community. The ideal candidate will have the ability to influence high-level stakeholders, solve complex regulatory and business challenges, and foster an environment that attracts capital and supports high-growth startups.

The Senior Advisor, Partnership & Growth – Ethiopia will work closely with Renew Capital’s senior leadership to develop and execute initiatives that drive investment, build entrepreneurial capacity and enhance access to capital. This is a highly visible and impactful role requiring exceptional relationship-building skills, strategic insight and a deep understanding of Ethiopia’s business and policy landscape.

Key Responsibilities

1. Build & Strengthen Strategic Relationships

• Establish and maintain high-level relationships with government officials, business leaders, investors, and the international development community.
• Represent Renew Capital at policy discussions, industry forums, and networking events.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders, aligning investment and entrepreneurship initiatives with government and donor priorities.

2. Identify & Support High-Potential Startups

• Develop a strong pipeline of investable startups in Ethiopia.
• Engage with entrepreneurs and business leaders to assess investment opportunities.
• Facilitate connections between startups, investors, and funding partners.

3. Market Intelligence & Policy Engagement

• Gather and analyze insights on Ethiopia’s investment climate, regulatory landscape and business trends.
• Provide strategic recommendations to Renew Capital leadership based on local market intelligence.
• Advocate for policies that enhance investment opportunities and reduce barriers for startups.

4. Problem-Solving & Ecosystem Development

• Navigate complex regulatory and business challenges that impact investment and entrepreneurship.
• Lead or support initiatives to improve access to capital, business development services and policy reforms.
• Act as a problem solver, helping to unlock barriers that limit startup growth and investment opportunities.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience with a strong track record in government, private sector, investment or international development.
• Deep networks within Ethiopia’s government, business and international development circles.
• Experience working with senior officials and managing high-level stakeholder relationships.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to assess investment opportunities and advise startups.
• Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Adaptive, emotionally intelligent and culturally fluent in engaging diverse stakeholders.
• Experience with donor-funded projects and private-sector development is a plus.
