Responsibilities
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
- Modeling and maintenance of end to end systems/network and respective capacity reporting and analysis for E2E IP/MPLS core, IGW, CDN networks, aggregation, and edge networks.
- Responsible for maintainance of the IGW nodes and all caches deployed on the network
- Validate end-to-end IP service performance (latency, jitter, packet loss)
- Troubleshoot, analyse and restore faults within the directed MTTR
- Implementing optimization plans done by Engineering team
- Collaborate with vendors on software upgrades, bug fixes, and feature implementation.
- Facilitate network testing and acceptance – in coordination with planning and infrastructure teams.
- Harmonized network operations and maintenance of E2E IP network in relation to other transmission technologies including Microwave, Fibre / DWDM, VSAT.
- Coordinate Network Improvement initiatives, in liaison with OEMs and Partners
- Ensure monitoring of all IP network elements is achieved.
- Perform proper preventive maintenance of all IP transport network elements and document results for all allocated sites and according to the maintenance regimes.
- Accountable for Spares on deployed sites
- Periodic feedback on all transmission related performance reports.
- Maintain an updated network information database
- Ensure compliance to regulator guidelines and facilitate necessary reporting on the same.
- Ensure OH&S adherence during supervised or own work execution.
- Periodic reporting on IP/MPLS network status and performance
- Continually monitor and manage (where required) network related issues. Facilitate and directly drive critical issue resolution and eliminate roadblocks with respect to Network Operations
- Key lead in the yearly budgeting exercise to ensure that network operations requirements are fully catered for in line with the operational requirements.
- Serves as the key technical liaison officer on all access transport related issues primarily with Engineering and Deployment, by extension to the vendors [operations and deployment]
- Overall Tx/RAN local logs/trace route and analysis of log files.
- Maintain database accuracy & interact with other role players to ensure conformance to business & security principles.
- Identify consistent and complex network service problems and provide suggestions for improvement initiatives on all IP technologies and dealing with the FLM vendor to reduce MTTR and 3rd parties’

Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Higher National Diploma in Electronics/Telecommunications
- 8 years experience with 3 years specialized role in a busy telecommunications environment –Involved in Transmission and IP Network operations, design, planning, installations /commissioning, and projects especially in IP/MPLS Networks support.
- Working knowledge and experience in various transmission network technologies and integration with E2E IP Networks.
- In-depth understanding of IP network protocols – BGP, MPLS, OSPF, ISIS, Segment Routing, IPv6 etc. Professional level certifications required e.g. CCNP, HCNP). Expert level certifications will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of software defined networking principles.
- Knowledge of network scripting / programming languages e.g. Python
- Computer literate – Able to create management reports and use project management tools
