About the Role
The Logistics Intern will support WFP’s customs and import operations by assisting with documentation, customs clearance, and coordination with government offices and clearing agents. The role provides practical, hands-on experience in supply chain operations, documentation handling, tracking shipments, and logistics reporting.
This position is ideal for final-year students or recent graduates in logistics, supply chain, business, or related fields who want to build a career with a leading global humanitarian organization.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
1. Current Students

Enrolled in a recognized undergraduate program and have completed at least two years, OR
-
Enrolled in a recognized graduate program.

Applicants must have attended classes within the past 12 months.

Preferred fields: Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Management, or related areas.
2. Recent Graduates

Completed an undergraduate or graduate degree within the last 6 months and attended classes within the final 12 months of enrollment.
Additional Requirements

Strong spoken and written skills in English and Amharic.

Physically able to travel to and work at the duty station.

Must not be the child or sibling of a WFP staff member.

Educational credentials must be from accredited institutions recognized by national or international authorities (e.g., Ministry of Education, UNESCO).
Key Responsibilities
The Logistics Intern will assist with:

Preparing and reviewing shipping documents, import permits, and Ethiopian Customs Declarations (ECDs).

Coordinating with Clearing & Forwarding (C&F) agents for timely document submission.

Tracking incoming shipments and collecting status updates from C&F partners.

Maintaining organized digital and physical documentation records.

Monitoring the closure of declarations and container guarantees.

Updating shipment tracking sheets and assisting with periodic reporting.

Reconciling received commodity quantities against customs declaration records.

Verifying invoices from C&F and superintendent companies for accuracy.

Supporting general administrative tasks related to logistics operations.
