Job Title: Cashier/Storekeeper

The Ethiopian Economic Association (EEA) was established as a non-profit making, non-political and non-religious professional Association in 1991 at the end of the First Annual Conference on the Ethiopian Economy. The Conference was organized by the Department of Economics of the Addis Ababa University (AAU) in collaboration with the Institute of Development Research of the AAU and sponsored by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung of Germany.

The Association has established, under it, the Ethiopian Economic Policy Research Institute (EEPRI) in July 2000 as its research wing. The Institute is involved in research and in organizing short term trainings on various issues that are of critical importance to Ethiopia’s economic development.

Position: Cashier/Storekeeper

Education/Certifications:

Diploma in Accounting with 4 years /BA degree in accounting or related fields of studies with 2 years.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 Years’ experience in a similar position, Store management, cash management with excellent skill of using computer applications especially Microsoft office.

  • Inventory management.

Main Activities

  • Withdraws petty cash from bank and puts in the safe and effect payments according to financial procedures of the association.
  • Keep petty cash in secure safe boxes and keep codes for safe box confidential.
  • Keeps records of the amount of money received and paid.
  • Issues official receipts for all collections including membership fees.
  • Deposits daily cash collections intact into bank the next working day.
  • Make cash deposits to the bank and submit deposit slips to the managers or employees concerned.
  • Process payments made in cash or check when he/she receives an authorized payment voucher to individuals or organizations at office and field.

Main Activities

  • Issues outgoing items from the store as per the relevant guideline.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery notes, in accordance with the rules and regulations of the organization.
  • Unpack, label, and store incoming goods in designated locations.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder supplies as needed to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and records.
  • Follows up items to be stocked out fill store requisition and reports to the immediate supervisor.
  • Receive store, financial and confidential documents and maintain records.
  • Assist with annual inventory counts as scheduled.
  • Prepare periodic reports.
  • Types reports, letters or memos when the need arises.
  • Maintains active files in the most accessible and safe ways.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
