About the Role

The Non‑Life Claims Junior Officer supports the administration, processing, and monitoring of general insurance claims. The role ensures timely, professional, and compliant claims handling while serving as a key liaison between clients, insurers, assessors, and internal teams.


Key Responsibilities

1. Claims Registration & Administration

  • Receive claim notifications via email, phone, online portals, or walk‑ins
  • Register new claims in the claims management system
  • Maintain accurate physical and digital claim files
  • Issue claim acknowledgment letters/emails
  • Classify claims by insurance type (motor, property, marine, liability, engineering, etc.)

2. Client Advisory & Support

  • Explain policy coverage, exclusions, deductibles, and procedures
  • Provide documentation checklists and guide clients through requirements
  • Support clients with claim form completion
  • Manage expectations and provide regular status updates

3. Documentation & Compliance

  • Review claim documents for completeness and accuracy
  • Verify policy validity, coverage limits, and deductibles
  • Ensure claims meet notification timelines
  • Follow up on missing documents
  • Maintain confidentiality and regulatory compliance

4. Liaison & Coordination

  • Submit claims to insurers within required timelines
  • Coordinate with assessors, investigators, repairers, and surveyors
  • Arrange inspections when needed
  • Follow up with insurers on approvals, queries, and settlements
  • Escalate complex cases to supervisors

5. Claims Monitoring & Follow‑Up

  • Track claims from registration to settlement
  • Maintain a claims diary for timely follow‑ups
  • Monitor turnaround times and minimize delays
  • Provide weekly status updates to supervisors

6. Settlement & Recovery Support

  • Review insurer settlement offers
  • Ensure proper execution of discharge vouchers
  • Follow up on payments and confirm client receipt
  • Assist with recovery and subrogation cases
  • Support negotiations for disputed claims under supervision

7. Reporting & Record Management

  • Prepare monthly reports (registered, settled, outstanding, repudiated claims)
  • Maintain claims statistics and loss ratio data
  • Assist with management presentations
  • Archive closed files per company policy

8. Continuous Improvement & Risk Awareness

  • Identify recurring claim trends and report risk patterns
  • Recommend mitigation measures
  • Participate in internal training
  • Stay updated on insurance regulations and insurer requirements

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Management, Economics, or related fields
