FHI 360’s Crisis Response team is expanding its humanitarian response to the Oromia Region in Negele Borena, Ethiopia, in partnership with Pastoralist Concern (PC), supporting populations affected by conflict.


Job Summary

The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of FHI 360 offices and guest houses. Duties include cleaning floors, windows, furniture, and common areas; operating cleaning machinery; managing supplies; and ensuring hygienic conditions at all times.


Key Responsibilities

  • Clean office spaces, furniture, floors, and windows.
  • Maintain hygienic conditions in offices and guest houses.
  • Operate cleaning machines (vacuum, laundry, iron, etc.) safely.
  • Monitor and restock cleaning supplies, tea, coffee, sugar, and water.
  • Report maintenance issues to the logistician.
  • Assist with plant care and green space maintenance.
  • Perform any other cleaning or maintenance duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications & Skills

  • At least 1 year of cleaning experience, preferably in an INGO environment.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and machinery safety.
  • Fluent in local language with working knowledge of English.
  • Physically fit; able to lift up to 15 kg multiple times a day and work standing for long hours.

Work Environment & Travel

  • Typical office setting; long hours standing or performing repetitive tasks.
  • Travel: Less than 10%.
