Role Purpose

The Education Coordinator will oversee and coordinate the implementation of the Education Cannot Wait – Multi-Year Resilience Programme II (ECW-MYRP II) in North Shewa Zone. The role focuses on project coordination, partner capacity building, and fostering collaboration with local stakeholders to improve access to quality, crisis-sensitive education for children affected by emergencies.


Key Responsibilities

1. Project Coordination and Management

  • Oversee implementation of ECW-MYRP II activities in target woredas.
  • Ensure quality and timely delivery of project outputs in line with donor and organizational standards.
  • Track progress and prepare regular reports and updates.
  • Develop and follow up on Detailed Implementation Plans (DIP).
  • Coordinate with consortium partners and local education clusters.

2. Capacity Building and Technical Support

  • Provide technical support and mentorship to implementing partners.
  • Organize and facilitate training, workshops, and learning events.
  • Strengthen the capacity of partner staff to deliver high-quality education interventions.
  • Ensure integration of gender equality, inclusion, child protection, and resilience in program implementation.

3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)

  • Work closely with the MEAL team to track key performance indicators.
  • Support baseline and follow-up assessments.
  • Document lessons learned, success stories, and best practices.
  • Participate in learning and reflection sessions.

4. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with local education offices, cluster partners, and community leaders.
  • Represent Save the Children in local coordination forums and meetings.
  • Promote collaboration and transparency between implementing partners and government institutions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Planning & Management, or related social science fields.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years in program implementation, including 3 years in a coordinator role with an INGO or reputable organization.
  • Experience managing integrated programs (Education, Child Protection, or Governance).
  • Strong planning, coordination, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate with strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work in field locations under challenging conditions.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) required; local language is an advantage.

Desirable Attributes

  • Strong understanding of Ethiopian Education Policy and strategic frameworks.
  • Experience working with the Ministry of Education or local education offices.
  • Skills in evaluation methods, reporting, and data analysis.
  • High cultural awareness and ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and commitment to Save the Children’s values.

Child Safeguarding

Level 3 – This position involves frequent interaction with children and youth. All staff must follow Save the Children’s child protection and safeguarding policies.
