Job Summary
Under the supervision of the General Coordinator, the Finance Coordinator provides leadership and oversight of the Ethiopia Mission’s financial management systems. The role ensures compliance with donor requirements, optimizes financial planning, and strengthens the financial capacity of MdM staff and partners.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Planning & Budget Management

Lead strategic financial planning and budget forecasting.

Monitor donor budget compliance and address variances.
-
Support the General Coordinator in funding strategies and risk analysis.

Prepare and revise operating/grant budgets.
2. Treasury & Accounting
-
Oversee accounting across all project sites.
-
Ensure cash flow management and monthly account closures.
-
Guarantee compliance of payments and transactions with MdM policies.
3. Audit, Compliance & Reporting
-
Prepare donor financial proposals and reports.
-
Support internal and external audits.
-
Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws and develop local financial procedures.
4. Team Management & Capacity Building
-
Manage the Finance Department team (recruitment, training, performance).
-
Train managers and local partners on finance, HR, and donor compliance.
-
Conduct field visits to strengthen financial processes.
5. Coordination & Representation
-
Contribute to internal reporting (monthly sitreps) and donor reports.
-
Represent MdM in financial coordination forums when delegated.
-
Oversee local partner financial compliance with donor rules.
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
-
At least 2 years in a similar finance leadership position (INGO experience preferred).

Experience managing multi-donor budgets.
-
Strong analytical and financial reporting skills.
-
Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of SAGA is an asset.
-
Experience in supply chain finance is an advantage.
-
Strong team management and training capacity.
-
Fluent English (oral & written); knowledge of Amharic or another language is an asset.

Benefits

Monthly Salary: €3,359 gross

Expatriation Bonus: 10% of gross salary per month

Premium: Equal to 1 month salary (after 6 months)

Contract Length: 12 months (renewable)
