The GIZ African Union Office, headquartered in Addis Ababa, provides services in procurement, financial management, events, HR, communications, and portfolio management to GIZ programmes implemented in partnership with the African Union. GIZ is inviting fresh graduates to apply for an internship opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in international cooperation and AU policy support.

Position: Intern

Key Responsibilities

• Content Creation: Draft, edit, and design social media posts, newsletters, and communication products.
• Data Management: Maintain contact lists, portfolio information, and communication materials.
• Research & Analysis: Prepare briefs, presentations, and reports on AU‑related topics.
• Event Support: Provide logistical and conceptual support for workshops, events, and team meetings.
• Administrative Support: Assist with day‑to‑day office operations as needed.

Qualifications

• Recent graduates (within the last 6 months) in International Relations, Political Science, Communications, African Studies, or related fields.
• Strong interest in AU policies or international development.
• Must be legally allowed to reside and work in Ethiopia (GIZ cannot facilitate permits).

Competencies & Skills

• Strong proficiency in English (knowledge of other AU working languages is an advantage).
• Excellent research, writing, and editing skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Proactive, resourceful, and collaborative mindset.
• Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) is an advantage.
