The IFC Ethiopia Country Office is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Operations Analyst to support programs within the Ethiopia Cluster (Ethiopia, Malawi, and Zambia). The role focuses on program management, market analytics, business development support, and strengthening private-sector growth initiatives.


Position: Operations Analyst

Key Responsibilities

The Operations Analyst will play an essential role in supporting IFC’s country strategy and private-sector development work. Core responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with program management and implementation for the Ethiopia Cluster.
  • Supporting business development initiatives and identifying market opportunities.
  • Conducting research, surveys, and data analysis to generate business intelligence.
  • Contributing to portfolio monitoring, reporting, and preparation of country-level documents.
  • Coordinating with project teams to ensure timely delivery of tasks and high-quality outputs.
  • Assisting with cluster-wide reporting for Ethiopia, Malawi, and Zambia as needed.
  • Preparing presentations, reports, briefs, and analytical documents for internal and external use.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Management, or other related fields.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in Ethiopia—preferably within the private sector, financial institutions, development partners, consulting firms, or research organizations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in market research, surveys, business intelligence, and analytical work.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • In-depth understanding of Ethiopia’s economic, social, and political landscape.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within diverse teams and deliver tasks on time.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong report-writing skills and the ability to analyze large datasets and convert them into actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of research tools such as Factiva, IBM, MIX, Bloomberg, EIU, and relevant World Bank Group databases.
  • Strong command of English (written and spoken). Knowledge of local Ethiopian languages is an added advantage.

Duty Station

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
The Operations Analyst will report to the IFC Country Manager. Although based in Addis Ababa, the role may include responsibilities related to cluster-level reporting and support for Malawi and Zambia.
