Job Overview
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is offering a structured internship program designed exclusively for recent female graduates. This six-month internship provides hands-on professional exposure within a leading international humanitarian organization operating in Ethiopia.
The program aims to build practical skills, enhance employability, and support early-career development across three functional areas: Safety & Security, Partnerships, and Talent Acquisition. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals in an office-based environment. The positions are offered on a contractual internship basis with a monthly stipend.
Available Internship Positions
Safety and Security Intern
This role supports the Safety and Security Unit in information management, reporting, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile daily security updates to support monthly reports and management decisions
- Collect and analyze security information from open sources
- Assess security conditions affecting IRC operations and intervention areas
- Support access, safety, and security operations
- Assist with emergency and contingency planning documentation
- Track inspection and expiry dates of safety equipment
- Support planning and coordination of field visits
- Maintain electronic and hardcopy documentation
- Support staff trainings and awareness sessions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Partnership Intern
This role supports IRC’s partnership management, monitoring, and compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in meetings and prepare accurate meeting minutes
- Support partner monitoring visits and prepare monitoring reports
- Assist in partner capacity assessments and reporting
- Support partner due diligence processes
- Assist in preparing partnership agreement documentation
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor
Talent Acquisition Intern
This role provides exposure to recruitment and people operations within a large organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Support field offices with recruitment request processing
- Assist with job advertisement posting and vacancy announcements
- Participate in CV screening and shortlisting activities
- Coordinate interviews, written tests, and assessments
- Maintain recruitment records and candidate documentation
- Support reference checks and preparation of offer and forensic letters
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education
- Talent Acquisition Intern:
BA/BSc Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or related fields - Safety and Security Intern:
BA/BSc Degree in Political Science, International Relations, Global Studies, or related fields - Partnership Intern:
BA/BSc Degree in Social Studies or related disciplines
Experience
- Open to recent female graduates
- Junior-level exposure or internship experience is an advantage
Technical Skills
- Basic report writing and documentation skills
- Ability to use standard office applications
