Position: Junior Finance Officer

Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: BA degree in Accounting from a recognized university or college.
  • Experience: At least 2 years in a junior finance officer or related role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong cash management skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
    • Knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks, Peachtree, etc.) is an advantage.
    • Excellent spoken and written English and Amharic; proficiency in a local language is highly desirable.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare receipt vouchers, collect cash/cheques, and deposit them intact into regional bank accounts.
  • Ensure all collections and payments are supported by pre-numbered vouchers.
  • Manage petty cash, maintain accurate records, and prepare timely cash reports.
  • Prepare and process cheques/payments according to ATI policies and procedures.
  • Record daily transactions and perform regular reconciliations.
  • Maintain custody of financial documents, cheques, and files.
  • Handle payments related to workshops and other regional expenses.
  • Prepare and issue receipts for government taxes (VAT, WHT) to suppliers.
  • Obtain and file suppliers’ VAT registration certificates and TIN numbers when processing payments.
  • Safely store payment vouchers and supporting documents for monthly transfer to the head office.
  • Reconcile cash accounts, prepare weekly cash positions, and ensure bills (utilities, rent, etc.) are paid on time.
  • Ensure compliance with ATI policies and cost-efficient use of resources.
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by the Senior Finance Officer.
