In Ethiopia, FHI 360βs Crisis Response team supports conflict-affected populations across Tigray, Amhara, Afar, Somali, and Oromia regions, ensuring access to essential services and protection.
π Position Overview
The MEAL Officer will support the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) system for integrated Health, Nutrition, WASH, and Protection activities in Negele Borena, Oromia.
Reporting to the MEAL Team Leader, the officer will ensure accurate data collection, reporting, and compliance with core humanitarian standards while building capacity among program staff and partners.
π Key Responsibilities
MEAL System Development & Implementation

Support development and implementation of MEAL systems, tools, and databases.

Collect, track, and analyze program data, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Conduct regular field visits to monitor program implementation and identify bottlenecks.

Participate in baseline, endline, and needs assessments.

Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for integrated program activities.
Accountability & Learning

Promote meaningful community participation and consultation in program activities.

Maintain functional feedback and complaints mechanisms for beneficiaries.

Track and respond to complaints, updating accountability dashboards.

Facilitate lessons learned documentation and knowledge sharing across programs.
Technical Support & Capacity Building

Provide guidance on MEAL tools, mobile-based data collection, and reporting procedures.

Mentor MEAL assistants and program staff in data collection and reporting.

Conduct training for staff and partners on MEAL systems and standards.
π Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelorβs or Masterβs degree in Statistics, Economics, Social Work, Public Health, Nutrition, Project Management, M&E, or related field.

3β4 years of MEAL experience in humanitarian or development programs.
-
Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection, databases, and digital tools (e.g., Kobo, Power BI).

Hands-on experience with Health, Nutrition, WASH, and Protection programming.

Knowledge of UN Cluster System and international/national humanitarian standards.

Strong communication and analytical skills in English and Tigrigna.

Ability to travel 10β25% of the time.
