IOM Ethiopia is recruiting a Project Clerk (Community Worker) to support the EU‑funded project “Sustainable Support to People Displaced by Conflict and Natural Disasters and Their Host Communities in Afar, Amhara, Benishangul‑Gumuz, and Tigray.” The role will contribute to livelihood activities under Objective 1, specifically Outputs 1.1 and 1.2, in Gantafeshum Woreda.


Position: Project Clerk (Community Worker)

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation, monitoring, and follow‑up of livelihood activities at Woreda level.
  • Coach and mentor established business groups and TVET trainees.
  • Act as focal point for communication and coordination with government counterparts and stakeholders.
  • Assist in project activity implementation and ensure timely provision of start‑up capital.
  • Compile, summarize, and present project information and progress updates.
  • Facilitate market linkages for businesses in the woreda and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure synergy with implementing partners and project stakeholders.
  • Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Maintain records, respond to information requests, and prepare progress reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • School diploma with 3 years of relevant experience, OR
    • Bachelor’s degree in Political/Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields with 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience:
    • Liaising with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and institutions.
    • Working with migrants, refugees, IDPs, victims of trafficking, and vulnerable groups.
    • Implementing livelihood projects (on‑farm, off‑farm, skills training, value chain development).
    • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations is an advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and prioritize effectively.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Flexibility, teamwork, and adaptability in multicultural settings.
  • Languages: Fluency in Amharic, Tigrinya, and English (oral and written).
