Position Details
Job Title: Project Officer Sr – Peacebuilding
- Grade: 8
- Reports to: Technical Advisor I – Peacebuilding
- Department: Program
- Employer: CRS Ethiopia (secondment with Harerghe Catholic Secretariat – HCS)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead implementation of the Strengthening Capacities for Peace and Reconciliation (SCPR) project activities
- Develop and oversee detailed implementation plans with CRS and HCS leadership
- Facilitate community dialogues (inter‑governmental forums, women peace champions, youth peace ambassadors, clan elder councils)
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance support to project staff
- Prepare cash forecasts, oversee financial requests, and ensure compliance with HCS standards
- Produce high‑quality reports, success stories, and lessons learned
- Coordinate monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEAL) activities with CRS and HCS teams
- Represent CRS and HCS in stakeholder meetings and regional networks
- Conduct context analyses and adapt project activities to emerging dynamics
- Support proposal development for expanding peace interventions in Somali and Oromia regions
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Peace & Conflict Studies, International Relations, Development Studies, or related fields
- Experience: 2–5 years in peacebuilding or governance programming (NGO experience preferred)
- Languages: Fluent in English, Amharic, and either Af‑Somali or Afaan Oromo
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong conflict analysis and reconciliation knowledge
- Experience in participatory planning and community engagement
- Excellent report writing and documentation skills
- Ability to empower youth and women in peace initiatives
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong relationship management and problem‑solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and facilitating workshops and dialogue processes
- Deep knowledge of local customs, clan dynamics, and inter‑community relations
- Proven ability to document best practices and success stories
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and results‑oriented
