In Ethiopia, FHI 360 has been responding to humanitarian emergencies across Tigray, Amhara, Afar, and Somali regions. We are now expanding our operations to the Oromia Region (Negele Borena) in partnership with Pastoralist Concern (PC) to deliver life-saving protection, health, nutrition, and WASH services.
π Position Overview
The Protection Team Leader will oversee day-to-day protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response activities under the ISH-E III project in Oromia Region. Working closely with the Protection Coordinator, the Team Leader will manage staff, strengthen referral pathways, and ensure high-quality service delivery for survivors and vulnerable groups.
π Key Responsibilities

Lead the implementation of GBV prevention and response activities.

Conduct assessments and mapping of protection risks and services.

Strengthen case management and referral systems.

Support community-based prevention and awareness strategies.

Organize capacity-building trainings for staff and service providers.

Compile and submit accurate monthly and quarterly reports.

Coordinate with NGOs, UN agencies, and government stakeholders.

Mentor and support protection staff with principles of self-care.

Manage work plans, budgets, and procurement in compliance with donor regulations.

Ensure adherence to FHI 360βs Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies.
π Educational & Experience Requirements

BA degree in Gender, Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, GBV, Law, or related fields.

MA/MSc preferred.
-
6 years of relevant experience with a bachelorβs degree, or 3 years with a postgraduate degree in GBV/Gender-focused projects (preferably in emergencies).

Experience working with conflict-affected or displaced communities.

Previous experience with NGOs/INGOs is mandatory.

Strong supervisory, coordination, and report writing skills.

Proficiency in English and local languages of the region.

Computer literacy (Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, Zoom, etc.).
