📌 Organizational Context

The Security Analyst role is part of WFP’s Global Headquarters (GHQ) and may also support Country Offices (COs) during emergencies. Analysts report to senior Security Officers or Country Directors depending on deployment.

This position requires strong analytical skills to identify threats, assess risks, and develop security measures that protect WFP personnel, assets, and operations.


🎯 Job Purpose

To analyze and contextualize security information, identify potential threats, and support WFP’s decision-making processes by providing accurate and timely security intelligence.


🔑 Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and disseminate security information to support operational planning.
  • Monitor incidents, local media, and open sources to identify risks.
  • Conduct research on threats and validate information for accuracy.
  • Prepare security updates, reports, and trend analyses.
  • Support crisis management teams during emergencies.
  • Contribute to conflict analysis and ensure gender-sensitive programming.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners for effective information sharing.
  • Provide inputs for briefings and presentations to WFP staff, donors, and partners.

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:
    • Advanced university degree in Security Management, International Relations, Political Science, Military Science, Conflict Analysis, Criminology, Law, or related fields.
    • OR first university degree with additional years of relevant experience.
  • Experience:
    • Prior work in security analysis, preferably in emergency response.
    • Experience supporting complex projects and guiding junior staff.
  • Languages:
    • Fluency in English (Level C).
    • Intermediate knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese) is an asset.
