π― Position: Advocacy & External Engagement Intern
As part of the Africa Union Liaison Office (AULO), the Advocacy & External Engagement Intern will provide essential support in monitoring AU events, drafting advocacy documents, organizing data, and supporting internal and external engagements.
π Key Responsibilities
Monitoring & Reporting
-
Track AU engagements and related events.
-
Prepare agendas, take meeting notes, and update the event tracker.
-
Organize advocacy documents on shared platforms (Box).
-
Draft quarterly engagement reports detailing reach and policy impact.
Research & Policy
-
Draft 4 policy briefs or articles annually.
-
Maintain quarterly updates of AULO statistics.
Networking & Engagement
-
Attend monthly working groups (e.g., Regional Protection, GBV, IAWG).
-
Support youth engagement and communication strategies.
Administrative & Logistical Support
-
Assist in planning budgets, agendas, logistics for meetings and workshops.

Maintain document filing systems and ensure a clean office environment.
-
Receive visitors professionally and track follow-up actions.
Communications
-
Update and manage AULO social media (especially Twitter).
-
Promote and support child participation in advocacy events with child safeguarding in mind.
π Qualifications
Education & Training
-
Masterβs degree in Social Sciences, Public Policy, Communication, Management, or Law.
-
Certification in advocacy, child rights, or policy influence is an asset.
Experience & Skills
-
Prior internship or work experience in advocacy, campaigning, or policy analysis.

Understanding of child rights frameworks (ACRWC or UNCRC).
-
Experience in organizing international events or forums.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Strong organizational and research skills.
-
Knowledge of humanitarian issues and AU systems is an advantage.
