The AfCFTA Liaison Office supports the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), advancing regional integration and economic growth.


Position: Administrative Assistant – AfCFTA

Purpose of the Role

To provide general administrative support to the AfCFTA Liaison Office, ensuring effective implementation of departmental work plans and daily operations.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide timely operational and logistical support.
  2. Assist in planning activities, preparing schedules, and monitoring implementation.
  3. Organize meetings, coordinate invitations, travel, and accommodation.
  4. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on administrative matters.
  5. Support procurement, travel management, leave management, and budget monitoring.
  6. Maintain filing systems, confidential records, and staff mission schedules.
  7. Draft correspondence, reports, briefing papers, and presentations.
  8. Prepare minutes of meetings and follow up on decisions.
  9. Ensure timely sourcing of office supplies and equipment.
  10. Uphold confidentiality and AU safeguarding standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Business Management, Business Administration, or related fields with 3 years’ experience in administrative/secretarial work.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or related fields with 2 years’ experience.
  • Experience in office management is mandatory.
  • Experience in SAP or similar systems is an advantage.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in English required; knowledge of another AU language is an asset.

Contract & Benefits

  • Regular 3‑year contract (first 12 months probation).
  • Base salary: USD 15,758 per year (GSA5, Step 1).
  • Additional benefits:
    • Post allowance (48% of base salary)
    • Housing allowance (USD 16,813 per year)
    • Tuition allowance (up to USD 10,000 per child per year for international staff; USD 3,330 for local staff)
