Since 1987, AHF has supported thousands of people living with HIV/AIDS worldwide. In Ethiopia, AHF supports 26 public health facilities, 1 NGO, and 1 AHF‑owned clinic, serving more than 93,000 clients across Addis Ababa, Oromia, Amhara, Sidama, and Tigray Regions.
AHF‑Ethiopia is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Nurse Counselor at Zewditu Memorial Hospital and Yekatit 12 Hospital.

Position Summary
The Nurse Counselor will support HIV prevention and testing services, linkage to care and treatment, and retention in care. Responsibilities include implementing HIV testing programs (ICT, PITC, VCT), providing targeted testing services, ensuring linkage of HIV‑positive clients to treatment, and supporting retention through patient tracking and follow‑up.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct baseline assessments and develop site support plans.
- Implement daily HIV counseling and testing activities, including index case testing.
- Ensure availability and proper use of HIV risk screening tools.
- Record and track HIV test results, positive cases, and linkage to ART.
- Collaborate with care and treatment teams to support missed appointments.
- Monitor ICT data recording and update follow‑up tools.
- Provide mentorship and on‑site feedback to testing units.
- Conduct outreach HIV testing activities to improve case detection.
- Assist in ART service provision, adherence support, and advocacy programs.
Qualifications

Education: Minimum Diploma in Nursing; BSc in Public Health/Nursing, MPH, Reproductive Health, Epidemiology, or Social Sciences preferred.

Experience: At least 4 years in HIV/AIDS programs, with 3 years in facility‑level direct service provision.

Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HIV testing and counseling, including index case testing.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring HTC programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical analysis tools.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
