Senior Finance Officer
Job Summary
The Senior Finance Officer will handle financial reporting, accounting, tax compliance, regulatory reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, and financial controls in line with IFRS and applicable regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with IFRS.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and support timely month-end and year-end closing.
- Prepare and submit statutory reports to ECMA, ESX, and CSD.
- Prepare and file VAT, withholding, income, payroll, and other applicable tax returns.
- Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, and segregation of client funds.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling activities.
- Coordinate internal and external audit processes.
- Support accounting for investment banking and advisory fees.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- An MSc or MBA is preferred.
- Professional certification such as ACCA or CPA, or active registration with the Accounting and Auditing Board of Ethiopia (AABE), is strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional accounting or finance experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in a senior finance or accounting position.
- Experience in financial services or another regulated financial institution is preferred.
Skills and Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of IFRS.
- Good knowledge of Ethiopian tax law and compliance requirements.
- Peachtree/Sage proficiency is mandatory.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- ERP experience is an advantage.
- Understanding of investment banking operations, asset management, and financial markets.
- Strong analytical, financial modelling, and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and highly regulated investment-banking environment.
