Bilal Microfinance Institution is hiring for Branch Accountant and Branch Manager positions in Addis Ababa and Welkite, Ethiopia, with opportunities for accounting and financial services professionals.

About Bilal Microfinance Institution

Bilal Microfinance Institution S.C. is a full-fledged interest-free microfinance institution established under NBE Directive No. MFI/32/2021. The institution provides Sharia-compliant and inclusive microfinance services, with a focus on expanding access to financial services for communities that have been excluded because of interest-based financing.

Available Positions

1. Branch Accountant

Duty Station: Welkite and Addis Ababa

Salary and Benefits: As per the Institution’s salary scale and benefits package

Educational and Experience Requirements

Applicants should meet one of the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance, or a related field with 0 years of relevant work experience; or
  • College Diploma (Level IV/10+3) in Accounting or a related field with 2 years of relevant work experience.

Experience working in a Microfinance Institution (MFI) is an added advantage.

Required Skills

  • Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Good computer application skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Analytical and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

The Branch Accountant will:

  • Maintain accurate accounting records and financial transaction documentation.
  • Prepare financial reports and perform account reconciliations.
  • Process payments and receipts in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support branch operations and maintain appropriate financial documentation.

2. Branch Manager

Duty Station: Addis Ababa

Salary and Benefits: As per the Institution’s salary scale and benefits package

Educational Requirements

Applicants should have a BA Degree or MBA in:

  • Management
  • Accounting
  • Banking & Finance
  • A related field

The qualification should be from a recognized higher education institution.

Experience Requirements

  • BA holders: Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • MBA holders: Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in a Microfinance Institution, Banking, or Insurance industry is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

The Branch Manager will:

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise overall branch operations.
  • Lead loan processing, portfolio management, and savings mobilization activities.
  • Drive branch performance and achievement of business targets.
  • Approve loans and branch payments within delegated authority.
  • Ensure timely loan disbursement and collection while maintaining portfolio quality.
  • Supervise daily financial transactions and maintain proper cash controls.
  • Prepare and submit periodic operational and financial reports.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers, communities, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and NBE regulations.
  • Lead, coach, and evaluate branch employees to improve performance and teamwork.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Knowledge of credit operations, savings mobilization, and branch management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience with Core Banking Systems and Microsoft Office applications is an advantage.
  • High integrity and accountability.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Knowledge of interest-free financing principles and products.

Salary and Benefits

Salary and benefits for both positions will be provided according to Bilal Microfinance Institution’s salary scale and benefits package.
