Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Communication & Visibility Intern to support our Ethiopia office. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in communication, content creation, visibility campaigns, and digital media management within an international humanitarian organization.


Key Responsibilities

The intern will:

  • Assist in developing content for newsletters, websites, social media, reports, and fact sheets.
  • Create visibility materials including blog posts, infographics, videos, and press releases.
  • Gather and share project news/updates via internal platforms (e.g., HInside).
  • Support documentation, publication archiving, and office visibility materials.
  • Manage HI Ethiopia’s social media presence by creating posts, engaging followers, and tracking performance.
  • Collaborate with teams on visibility campaigns and outreach activities.
  • Help organize and promote events, workshops, and awareness campaigns.
  • Conduct field visits to capture photos and videos of projects and beneficiary stories.
  • Manage the official email inbox (Contact@Ethiopia.hi.org) and direct inquiries to relevant departments.
  • Support administrative tasks in the communications department.
  • Maintain a small reading corner/gallery in the office premises.

Requirements

Education

  • Recent graduate with a degree in Digital Design, Communications, Computer Science, Photography, Foreign Languages, or related field.
  • Certification in Digital Design is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in social media management and digital content creation.
  • Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Knowledge of video editing and digital design tools.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Team player with cultural sensitivity and adaptability.

Internship Benefits

  • Monthly stipend: 1,000 Birr/day (subject to tax).
